After the tour, take time to explore the sights of Siena independently and possibly visit the charming shops of the Via dei Banchi di Sopra. Today, along the way, you will visit the American Military Cemetery and Memorial. See the burial area where 4,392 headstones are curved in symmetrical rows upon the hillside. They represent 39% of the U.S. Fifth Army burials originally made between Rome and the Alps. Most died in the fighting after Rome's capture in June 1944.
