Day 1 – Depart the USA Begin your Transylvanian adventure as you depart the USA on an overnight flight to Bucharest, gateway to a land of medieval towns, majestic castles, mountain scenery, and rich cultural traditions. Day 2 – Arrive in Romania | Bucharest – Brașov Welcome to Romania. Upon arrival at Bucharest International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Brașov, beautifully set amid the Carpathian Mountains. With its cobblestone streets, colorful baroque buildings, lively squares, and inviting cafés, Brașov offers a wonderfully romantic introduction to Transylvania. This charming city blends elegance, warmth, and old-world atmosphere in a setting that feels timeless and welcoming. Upon arrival, settle into your hotel and enjoy time to relax or perhaps step out for a breath of fresh mountain air and a first look at the enchanting Council Square. Day 3 – Brașov | Sinaia, Peles Castle and Prejmer After breakfast, set out for the lovely town of Sinaia, long associated with royal retreat and natural beauty. Here you will visit magnificent Peleș Castle, the 19th-century summer residence of Romania’s royal family. Commissioned by King Carol I, this extraordinary castle is admired for its Neo-Renaissance architecture, richly decorated interiors, stained glass, fine furnishings, and remarkable art collections. Day 6 – Sibiu After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing free day in elegant Sibiu, where you can wander the medieval squares, admire the charming “eyes” of the old houses, visit local markets and artisan shops, sample traditional Romanian pastries or wine in a cozy café, and simply soak in the timeless atmosphere of one of Transylvania’s most beautiful cities or take and optional tour to Alba Iulia and Sibiel Village. Depart for historic Alba Iulia, a city shaped by centuries of history and known for its grand avenues, imposing fortifications, and strong sense of heritage. Here you will visit the remarkable Alba Carolina Citadel, with its impressive Vauban-style fortification system, as well as the Orthodox Cathedral, Catholic Cathedral, and traces of the city’s Roman past. During your tour, discover the city’s Big Square, Small Square, Staircase Tower, the iconic Bridge of Lies, and the city’s three principal cathedrals: Orthodox, Lutheran-Evangelical, and Catholic.
