Day 1 – Depart the USA Begin your journey and prepare for an unforgettable Heart of Spain experience. Relax on your overnight flight and enjoy onboard meals and beverages as the anticipation builds for the remarkable adventure ahead.
Day 2 – Arrive in Spain | Welcome to Ávila Welcome to Spain, a land of timeless history, gracious hospitality, and unforgettable cultural treasures. Upon arrival at Madrid Airport, you will be greeted by your Tour Host and transferred to your hotel in Ávila, one of Spain’s most captivating walled cities. With its beautifully preserved medieval walls, spiritual legacy, and authentic old-world atmosphere, Ávila offers a peaceful and inspiring introduction to Spain. After check-in, enjoy a welcome briefing that introduces you to the region's rich heritage and charm, and to the wonderful journey ahead. This evening, begin your adventure in true Spanish style with a welcome dinner with wine at your hotel, the perfect way to relax, settle in, and savor your first taste of Spain’s renowned cuisine. Day 3 – Ávila | Medieval Grandeur and Wine Country Elegance After breakfast, discover the enduring beauty of Ávila on a guided walking tour through one of Spain’s most atmospheric historic cities. Admire the city’s famous medieval walls, a powerful symbol of the warring and monastic past that shaped this remarkable destination. Step inside the Cathedral of Ávila, where soaring stone columns, vaulted ceilings, and glowing stained glass create a setting of quiet grandeur. Inside, admire treasured works including the magnificent main altarpiece and the alabaster tomb of “El Tostado,” one of the cathedral’s great Renaissance masterpieces. Later, continue to the scenic Tierras de Cebreros Winery in the beautiful Alberche Valley beneath the Sierra de Gredos. Here, centuries of tradition meet refined modern winemaking in one of Spain’s emerging wine regions. Learn about the area’s 13th-century wine heritage and enjoy a tasting of the estate’s celebrated Garnacha Tinta and Albillo Real wines, accompanied by an Iberian appetizer. (B)
Day 4 – Ávila - Optional tour to Segovia and Spain’s Answer to Versailles Today, enjoy Ávila at your own pace or take an optional tour to Segovia, one of Spain’s most beautiful and historic cities. On your guided visit, marvel at the city’s awe-inspiring Roman Aqueduct, a monumental engineering achievement that has stood for nearly 2,000 years and remains a proud symbol of Segovia. Then visit the storybook Alcázar of Segovia, one of the most famous and best-preserved medieval castles in Europe, said to have inspired some of Walt Disney’s most beloved castle designs. After time to enjoy Segovia’s charming streets and splendid architecture, continue to Palacio de La Granja de San Ildefonso, the elegant 18th-century royal retreat of King Philip V. Often described as Spain’s answer to Versailles, this magnificent palace enchants with richly decorated halls, beautifully designed French-inspired gardens, and spectacular fountains that reflect the grandeur of the Spanish court. Day 5 – Ávila | Toledo, the Imperial City Today, explore Toledo, one of Spain’s most treasured historic cities, where Christian, Jewish, and Muslim cultures once flourished side by side. Known as the Imperial City, Toledo charms visitors with its winding cobblestone streets, ancient monuments, and extraordinary artistic legacy. Your guided tour includes the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the magnificent Primate Cathedral, and the old Jewish Quarter, where you will visit the Church of Santo Tomé, home to El Greco’s masterpiece The Burial of Count Orgaz, and the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, a powerful symbol of Toledo’s “Three Cultures.” You will also visit a traditional Damasquinado workshop, where skilled artisans continue Toledo’s famous decorative metalwork tradition by hand, creating exquisite jewelry, boxes, plates, and keepsakes. Day 6 – Ávila | Optional tour to Salamanca, Spain’s Great University City Today, enjoy a day in Ávila relaxing in its city squares, shopping in local boutiques or take an optional tour to historic Salamanca, a city of golden beauty and intellectual distinction. A UNESCO World Heritage City, Salamanca is famed for its honey-colored stone architecture, rich artistic heritage, and the prestigious University of Salamanca, founded in 1218, one of the oldest universities in Europe. On your guided tour, admire the city’s remarkable mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture as you visit the Old Cathedral and the soaring New Cathedral, whose construction spanned more than two centuries. See the celebrated University façade, where tradition invites visitors to search for the famous frog, and stroll through the magnificent Plaza Mayor, one of the most elegant squares in Spain. Day 9 – Madrid | Barcelona After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Barcelona, the dazzling capital of Catalonia and one of Europe’s most captivating cities. Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted by your Quest Voyager Tour Director and transferred to your hotel. Set along the sparkling Mediterranean, Barcelona is a city of striking contrasts, where Gothic charm, seaside elegance, world-famous architecture, and vibrant street life come together in unforgettable fashion. Day 10 – Barcelona | Gaudí’s Masterpieces & the Gothic Quarter After breakfast, discover the magic of Barcelona on a memorable sightseeing tour of this artistic and architectural treasure. Begin with a drive to Montjuïc Hill, site of the 1992 Olympic Games, where sweeping views over the city, harbor, and sea provide a spectacular introduction to Barcelona. Continue to the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece and one of the most extraordinary churches in the world.
